  • Complete Introduction to Umpiring Course
  • Complete Abuse Awareness for Adults Course
  • “U” Certification Commitment (Code of Conduct)
     

Renewal Requirements:

  • None.

  • Be able to better recognize and respond to health and safety issues and other instances of emotional and physical misconduct.
  • Listed in the member search feature of the USA Baseball Sport Development website as a Certified Umpire.

  • Professionalism and communicating with coaching staffs, players, and spectators

  • 2-man positioning and mechanics
  • Making calls and game management

Umpires who have completed a “U” Certification have demonstrated the following:

  • Knowledge of best practices for being professional during competition. 
  • Knowledge of positioning and mechanics to make calls. 
  • Ability to create positive competition environments through avoiding and managing conflict.
  • Understanding of how to recognize and respond to any misconduct, and how to create a safe environment for all players, coaches, parents, and umpires.
