The Prospect Development Pipeline League is the newest joint MLB and USA Baseball initiative. An expansion of Prospect Development Pipeline program, the League will consist of eighty (80) of the top High School prospects in the country competing at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL in the most premier development experience in the marketplace. Conducted over one month in the summer of 2019, the program will include on-field gameplay, practice and training sessions in addition to MLB Club representatives as on-field coaches, and will leverage modern technologies to inform individualized player curriculum.

The PDP League host site is a 500+ acre campus housing a state-of-the-art baseball stadium, along with 5 other development fields, indoor/outdoor batting cages, and 16 practice mounds, and is home to 1 of 3 Gatorade Sports Science Institutes in the world.

Amenities for PDP League athletes include:

  • 10,000 sq. foot weight room
  • 40,000 sq. foot Field House with professional locker rooms
  • On-site housing at Ascender Hall

The League will include:

  • League Championship format
  • MLB All-Star Week connectivity, with on-field high school aged competition
    • Approximately 50 high-performing players from the 2019 PDP League will be selected to participate in the inaugural MLB Future-Futures Game at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio as a part of MLB All-Star Game festivities.
  • Team USA 18U Trials Roster invites
  • MLB High School Home Run Derby Finalists
    • Players participating in the PDP League will be eligible for selection to participate in the MLB High School HR Derby in Cleveland as part of MLB’s 2019 All-Star Game festivities.

Providing all participating athletes with an environment that puts their well-being first is one of the founding principles for which the PDP League was created. The league will provide a centralized home that focuses on:

  • Athlete Wellness
  • Classroom Sessions
  • Technological Support and Solutions

The following support staff will be provided:

  • Administrative Staff
    • The PDP League administrative staff will consist of Major League Baseball and USA Baseball staff supporting the league’s strategic vision while providing daily logistical oversight.
  • On-Field Staff
    • On-field staff will include MLB Club personnel, Team USA national team coaches, and additional professional and collegiate coaches, trainers, and scouts.
  • Club Inclusion
    • MLB Clubs will provide direct support to the athletes by way of on-field coaches during the league’s duration. Each Club will be permitted to designate a staff member to serve as a coach on one of the four PDP League teams for one week during the league.
  • College Inclusion
    • NCAA, NAIA, and NCJAA coaches will have the opportunity to serve as coaches during the program. Members of the collegiate community will also be permitted to attend League games and practice sessions during the duration of the month.
  • Security
    • The PDP League will be supported 24/7 by a member of Major League Baseball’s Resident Security Agency program during the duration of the league, with additional support being provided by IMG’s own campus security detail.

Details Around Travel: Transportation will be coordinated for participating athletes by league staff to and from Bradenton, Florida – all-expenses paid.
All-Expenses Paid: Participating in the MLB PDP League comes with all-expenses paid for participating athletes (travel, lodging, meals).
Lodging On-Site: Athletes will be housed on-site at the IMG campus. Player dormitory-style housing will accommodate PDP League athletes inclusive of a bed, private bathroom (for 2 athletes), common area, and more.
Dedicated Electronic Communication: PDP League athletes will be distributed a tablet dedicated for electronic communication for the duration of the league. Team schedules, player meetings, video analysis, data review, and many other critical league functions will all be available and accessible via the supplied device, also at no-charge to the athlete.
Medical Support: In addition to the team of ATC’s and Strength and Conditioning personnel dedicated to the PDP League, the IMG Academy has nurses on site 7 days a week with doctors available 3 days per week.
